Adams Ranch Ltd. is a 3rd generation family agriculture company started over 50 years ago by Pete Adams and currently run by Trent and Peter Adams. We started as grain farmers in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan and moved into cattle when the family re-located in the early 1950’s to Czar, Alberta. The family raised grain crops and a cow herd and continued doing this until Peter, the eldest son of Pete, came home from University in the mid 1960’s. That is when the company started to feed cattle in pens.
Through the late 1960’s until 1998, the family ran feedlots around Czar with over 30,000 head capacity. In 1998, we sold the largest feedlot and the smaller lot in 2003. We continued to feed cattle in custom feedlots and relocated to ranching in Southern Alberta on various ranches including Dorothy XL Ranch, east of Calgary, and Cash Cattle Ranch in Fort St. John’s in BC.
In late 2007, we went into partnership on a 25,000 head feedyard called Czar Feedyards Ltd. This yard was originally built by Peter Adams and we were excited to be back involved with this yard. We farm 9,000 acres of land for cereal silage which is all surrounding the yard itself.
Currently, we still feed, background, finish cattle and have ranching operations for yearlings on our grass program on our 50,000 acres of ranch land. Our program consists of running yearlings and mother cows at the Czar ranch, Hand Hills Ranch, Wintering Hills (Dorothy XL) ranch and our most recent purchase, the Dorothy OH ranch which is now the Badlands ranch. We also background cattle across Western Canada and finish cattle.
We are excited to continue our support of the Canadian Cattle feeding industry now and into the future.
