Senior Bookkeeper / Accountant – Agriculture (Full-Time, In-Office)
Company: Adams Ranch Ltd. is a well-established, growth-oriented cattle operation managing Canadian and US operations through Adams Group of Companies.

The Opportunity: This role includes, but goes beyond basic bookkeeping. We are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper / Accountant to take ownership of our entire accounting function. You will manage daily, full-cycle accounting, support our livestock inventory tracking team, collaborate with our external accountants at RSM and report directly to the president to maintain and optimize the financial health of our cross-border entities to keep our operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily accounting (AP, AR, reconciliations)
- Payment management (EFT, WIRE and ACH across North America)
- Financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, multiple company consolidations)
- Manage and coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate standards
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and financial governance practices
- Livestock inventory tracking and valuation to ensure data integrity
- Cost tracking (feed, yardage, veterinary, transport, etc.)
- Monthly Mark to Market and multiple entity consolidation reporting
- Work closely with inventory team for seamless asset reporting
- Manage CAD/USD transactions and currency tracking
- Coordinate with external accountants for year-end and tax
What We’re Looking For:
- CPA designation or formalized Professional Accountant Training
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, acquired skills and expertise
- Strong technical skills in assurance (review and audit), tax, and financial reporting
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct, Sage 50 or similar ERP/accounting systems
- Solid understanding of inventory and cost tracking
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, operationally driven environment
- Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented, with focus on accuracy
Nice to Have:
- Experience with livestock accounting or feedlot operations
- Experience in agriculture, ranching, or a commodity-based business is a strong asset
Work Details and Benefits:
Schedule: Full-time, Permanent (Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-4PM). 37.5 hours per week.
Location: In person, at our new office located in Strathmore, AB. Reliable transportation is required. Parking provided.
Compensation: $80,000–$110,000, with additional performance bonus. Final compensation will reflect education and experience.
